Travelling to Helsinki
Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland, located in the southern part of the country on the Gulf of Finland.
Train
There are international rail connections from European cities by train to Helsinki Central Railway Station “Helsingin päärautatieasema”, located in the city centre. Please check https://www.vr.fi/en for current schedule and routes.
Ferry
Helsinki is well-connected by ferry services, mainly to Tallinn (Estonia) and Stockholm (Sweden). Some of the well-known ferry operators serving Helsinki include Viking Line, Tallink Silja Line, and Eckero Line.
Airplane
If a journey by plane is unavoidable, Helsinki can be reached by direct flight from very many international destinations. The international Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) is located approx. 17 km north of downtown Helsinki and is connected to the Helsinki Central Station by railway services.
