Venue

The venue for both the 7th International Workshop on Large-Scale Integration of Wind Power into Power Systems as well as on Transmission Networks for Offshore Wind Farms and the Second Workshop on Best Practice in the Use of Short-term Forecasting of Wind Power will be the hotel Meliá Avenida América**** in Madrid. It is located about 10 minutes from the airport Madrid-Barajas, next to the IFEMA fairgrounds and about 15 minutes from the city centre of Madrid.

... from the airport

1. The hotel is regularly approached from the airport by a shuttle bus (13 seats). It is scheduled between 07:00 a.m and 23:00 p.m. It has bus stops at every airport terminal:

TERMINAL 1 - Exit Sala 2
TERMINAL 2 - Exit Sala 5
TERMINAL 3 - bus stop no. 2

Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) is served by taxi, Metro and bus. The Madrid Metro system is efficient and covers most of the city. From the Airport trains run between 6:00 am and 1:45 am every day. Metro Line 8 (pink line) runs towards the centre (direction Nuevos Ministerios). The Airport metro stop is in Terminal 2, reasonably close to Terminals 1 and 3. The entrance is on the lower floor of Terminal 2, off a corridor that also leads to Parking Lot P2. The stop is well signposted.

2. Take bus 200 to the interchange station Avenida de América (Intercambiador). This is a multi-level subterranean interchange station. Find the level for public urban transport (EMT) and take bus 114 (Link zu Datei "bus_114_grafik") to Luca de Tena-street. Luca de Tena-street has 4 bus stops, the 4th stop is situated directly in front of the Meliá Avenida de América .

... from the city center

Take metro lines 4, 6, 7 or 9 to the metro station Avenida de América (Intercambiador). This is a multi-level subterranean interchange station. Take bus 114 to Luca de Tena-street as described above.
